1.  Passenger Handling – Check in passengers, issue boarding passes. Verify travel documents and luggage allowance. Assist passengers with special needs, VIPs, and unaccompanied minors. 2.  Baggage and Cargo Handling – Weigh and tag luggage. Load and unload cargo and baggage from aircraft. Track lost or delayed luggage. Handle fragile, live, or dangerous goods in accordance with aviation regulations. 

3.  Ramp/Airside Operations – Marshall aircraft for safe parking and pushback. Coordinate aircraft refuelling, catering, and cleaning. Load cargo, baggage, and mail onto aircraft. Perform aircraft visual inspections (for obvious damage, leaks, etc.). Ensure safety regulations are followed in airside areas. 

4.  Airport Operations Control – Coordinate aircraft arrival and departure schedules. Communicate with pilots, air traffic control, and ground staff. Manage gate allocations and turnaround times. Handle irregular operations like diversions or weather disruptions. 

5.  Aviation Security – Screen passengers, baggage, and cargo for prohibited items. Monitor access control to restricted areas. Conduct security patrols and surveillance. Implement emergency response procedures if needed. 

6.  Cargo and Freight Services – Book and document cargo shipments. Ensure cargo is packed and labelled according to international standards. Arrange customs clearance and freight delivery. Track and manage high-value, perishable, or hazardous shipments.

General Qualifications to Study Air Aviation Services: 

📌 Academic Requirements: Minimum of a high school certificate (KCSE, NSC, or equivalent). In Kenya, for example: 

  • KCSE mean grade of D+ (Diploma) or 
  • D plain (Certificate) depending on the level of course. 

In other countries: 

  • Completion of Grade 10–12 depending on local education systems. 
  • Some institutions may ask for passes in English and Mathematics
