Collins Aerospace and Lufthansa Technik celebrate decade of joint 787 nacelle support

Collins Aerospace and Lufthansa Technik are celebrating a milestone – marking 10 years of their partnership in providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for Boeing 787 Dreamliner nacelles. This collaboration has strengthened the aviation industry by ensuring reliable support and optimized life-cycle solutions for customers worldwide.

The partnership began in November 2013 with a licensing agreement that enabled Lufthansa Technik to deliver comprehensive repair and asset-provision services for the nacelles on both engine types used by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Operations officially commenced in 2014, with repair and overhaul services being conducted at Lufthansa Technik’s strategically located workshops in Hamburg, Shenzhen, and Dubai. Over the past decade, Lufthansa Technik has successfully performed over 100 MRO events for Dreamliner nacelles, serving a diverse clientele.

Beyond the Boeing 787, Lufthansa Technik’s expertise extends to nacelle services for Airbus A350 and A320neo aircraft. The company holds MRO licenses for these models, providing access to critical resources such as technical and repair process information, OEM tooling, and rotable asset pools. This allows Lufthansa Technik to deliver a full spectrum of nacelle support, including:

  • Advanced exchanges
  • Lease and loan options
  • High-tech repairs
  • Modifications
  • OEM-approved global on-site repair services

This capability ensures Lufthansa Technik can respond rapidly to Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations, minimizing downtime for customers.
