EGYPTAIR has confirmed a firm order for six additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, expanding its total commitment to 16. This move is part of the airline’s broader fleet modernization and long-haul network growth strategy.
The A350-900, known for its fuel efficiency and environmental performance, is expected to play a central role in EGYPTAIR’s sustainability roadmap. The aircraft consumes 25% less fuel and emits significantly fewer carbon emissions compared to older widebody models. It also supports Egypt’s national push toward greener aviation.
Each A350 will feature Airbus’ advanced Airspace cabin, which enhances passenger experience through wider seats, elevated ceilings, and modern lighting systems—key elements for standing out in competitive premium markets.
Designed for ultra-long-haul missions, the A350-900 can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometers) non-stop and is powered by the latest Rolls-Royce engines. These jets are compatible with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and Airbus aims for full 100% SAF compatibility by 2030.

Our long-standing partnership with Airbus continues to evolve as we work to meet growing demand and elevate the passenger experience.”
Airbus’ EVP of Commercial Aircraft Sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, remarked that EGYPTAIR’s repeat order highlights the A350’s strong performance and alignment with the airline’s goals for growth and decarbonization.
Globally, the A350 is considered one of the most advanced and efficient widebody aircraft. By the end of May 2025, it had secured more than 1,390 orders from 60 customers.

The A350-900 offers African airlines significant advantages, including extended range, fuel savings, and a premium passenger experience—key for expanding routes to global destinations in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Its ability to operate with SAF supports alignment with global climate goals and enhances appeal to environmentally conscious travelers and investors.
The spacious and modern Airspace cabin helps African hubs like Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Cairo, and Johannesburg attract transit traffic and high-end passengers. Moreover, Airbus’ commitment to regional collaboration creates opportunities for African nations and airlines to develop local aviation capabilities, such as MRO centers, pilot training academies, and aerospace engineering partnerships—strengthening both the sector and broader economic development.
